Vancouver Island Quake Felt in Cariboo

One household in the 150 Mile House area felt the after effects of an earthquake earlier this afternoon off the west coast of Vancouver Island.

Here’s what homeowner Jackie Halliday noticed at around 12:45pm.

“I saw plants swinging in my kitchen and my dining room light.”

Halliday says the plants continued to swing for the next three to four minutes.

“Well we kinda thought it was odd because we didn’t feel anything but all of a sudden everything was moving.”

Government officials estimate the quake was somewhere between 6 and 7 on the richter scale.
