Quesnel Woman Saves Bear

IT’S AN AMAZING STORY THAT IS ABOUT TO COME FULL CIRCLE.

OUR STORY STARTS WITH A BABY BEAR ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND A LADY CRYING IN A CAR WITH A COUPLE OF YOUNG CHILDREN INSIDE.

THE BEAR HAD OBVIOUSLY BEEN STRUCK BY THE VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY 97 JUST PAST THE COTTONWOOD BRIDGE.

   ENTER ANGIE ZYCHKOWSKY.

SHE AND HER HUSBAND CURT AT FIRST DROVE BY BUT THEN CIRCLED BACK TO HELP.

BY THEN HOWEVER THE WOMAN WAS GONE AND JUST THE BEAR REMAINED.

THE MOTHER BEAR AND ANOTHER CUB WERE ALSO NEARBY BUT THE SOW EVENTUALLY SNIFFED HER CUB AND LEFT FOR A NEARBY HILL.

AFTER MUCH CONVINCING ANGIE FINALLY TALKED CURT INTO LETTING HER OUT OF THE CAR.

SHE GRABBED A SNUGGLY AND SCOOPED HER INJURED VICTIM UP.

ANGIE WAS HEADED TO WORK AT THE TIME AND FIRST TOOK THE INJURED CUB TO TOLKO BEFORE HEADING TO THE VET  WHERE MIRACULOUSLY IT WAS ONLY TREATED FOR A BROKEN JAW AND WHAT APPEARED TO BE A CONCUSSION.

FROM THERE IT WAS OFF TO THE WILDLIFE RESCUE CENTRE IN SMITHERS WHERE SHE HAS NOW FULLY RECOVERED.

THE NEXT STEP WILL BE TO BE RELEASED BACK HOME HERE IN THE QUESNEL AREA AND ANGIE WILL GET TO BE A PART OF THAT EXPERIENCE AS WELL.

SHE EXPECTS IT TO BE A VERY EMOTIONAL DAY.
